DIVIJ CAT PREP GUIDE-RS.650

HOW TO USE THE GUIDE

The guide consists of 14 levels:

LEVEL 0- LEARN ENGLISH
This level is the first step towards preparation. This is an optional level. some students have weak foundation in English so before staring any preparation for cat it is advised to first clear your English fundamentals. This level also helps student improve their spoken English.
English is used by almost everyone. It is also very helpful is day to day conversations, personal interviews, group discussions and also used in most workplaces. Hence it is very important to learn to speak fluent English rather than mugging up a few concepts.

LEVEL 0-LEARN MATHEMATICS
This level is also optional. It is designed for students who don’t have a strong mathematics base. Especially those who are not from science/engineering background are not in touch with math for more than 5 years. Therefore this level provides a short course just to clear your fundamentals and get in touch with mathematics.

LEVEL 1-STAT PREPARATION
Before you open your books and start studying it is important to learn all about the entrance exams you will be appearing for. the syllabus for all exams remains the same but the pattern of each exam is different. Therefore it is important to learn about the exam, when where and how it is help, difficulty level the syllabus and pattern of the exams, etc.
This will help you make your preparation strategy/timetable for exam.

LEVEL 2-LEARNING FUNDAMENTALS
This level consists of concepts of all topics like quant, verbal, rc, sc, di, ds etc.
One of best things about this guide is that it consists of at least 3 different explanations of concepts from different authors. Since fundamentals are the first step it is important that you understand them. various different explanations are given to make sure that if you don’t understand the concept of one you can use the other one and if u still don’t understand it you have an option to use the third. This will make sure that you understand every concept of every topic easily

 LEVEL 3  ( 1 ) - PRACTICING WORKBOOKS
This level consists of workbooks for practice. The workbooks are divided according to the level of difficulty and the number of questions.
Solving Workbooks is important because the only way to get accuracy and speed in your performance is through practice.
Quote - The secret to success is practice!! Practice!! And more practice!!

LEVEL 3 (2 ) - INCREASING GENERAL AWARENESS
This level consists of general knowledge workbooks, things to remember lists, quizzes   etc. it is always good to be updated with the current affairs but in case you are have a “I don’t care attitude “and not interested in the events happening around you, you might want to start preparation because GK questions are asked in most MBA entrance exams as well as group discussions and personal interviews.

LEVEL 4- STARTING MOCK CATS
This level consists of mock cats. Mock cats are very helpful. They help you analyze your performance and your preparation. They also help increase your speed and accuracy. Therefore solving mock cats is one of the important steps of cat preparation.

LEVEL 5- USING E-BOOKS TO IMPROVE YOUR PREPARATION
E-books are a very effective way to gain an advantage over the other students competing in cat. We have collected the most important books that need to be read by an MBA aspirant to clear your fundamentals, help you strategize your preparation, give you tip and tricks to improve your preparation, provide information from experienced authors etc. they are very helpful and provide a lot of information .these e-books are not only helpful for the exams but are also helpful in your day to day life.

 LEVEL 6- LEARNING STRATEGIES
This level is one of the most important levels in exam preparation. There are 2.5 lakh students appearing for the exam, studying the same books, going for the same classes as you so the competition is huge. The only way to have an advantage over the other 2.5 lakh students is to use strategies to give your exam. The way you attempt the paper is as important as the no of correct answers. You have to create your own strategy based on your strengths and weakness to attempt maximum questions with accuracy and speed. This level provides all the knowledge you need to ace the exams.

LEVEL 7- SOLVING PRO CATS
Procats are professional mock cats. The best mock cats with high level of difficulty are chosen from various resources and added in this level. Mock cats of T.I.M.E, CL, IMS etc are available in this level. To make the maximum use of these mock cats it is advised to solve this level only when you are confident of your preparation.

LEVEL 8-SOLVING PREVIOUS YEARS CAT PAPERS
Solving previous cat papers is important because it gives you an idea of the level of difficulty of the exam and the pattern of the exam. Once you have practiced all the previous cat papers it will boost your confidence immensely. It also helps to stay calm during the exam because you have already experienced the pattern and have an idea of what the exam is like. This way you won’t panic before the exam.

LEVEL 9-ALL IN ONE LIST
All-in-one list has lists of formulas, points to remember and all the important information combined in one, for easy access. This helps students save a lot of time because all the information that is needed is organized neatly in a list.

LEVEL 10- USING SOFTWARES TO EXPERIENCE THE REAL CAT EXAM
These softwares can be used to get yourself accustomed to the computer based exam pattern. Most students are habituated to using paper pen while studying but due to the computer based pattern of cat it is important to get in a habit of using the computer.

LEVEL 11-REVISION
This is one of the important steps in exam preparation. If time permits the students should revise their concepts and practice questions to make sure they remember all the concepts clearly. Since most students prepare for a year or more it is possible to forget some of the fundamentals you learnt few months ago. Therefore it is important to revise all the concepts and refresh your memory.

LEVEL 12-SOLVING MOCK PAPERS OF OTHER ENTRANCE EXAMS
Most students don’t bother to solve other exam papers while giving a particular exam because they think it’s not important but you should remember that most exams have the same syllabus and same type of questions. Therefore it gives you an advantage to solve other exam papers because it provides a large amount of practice questions of the difficulty level similar to cat.

LEVEL 13- READING ARTICLES FROM PROFESSIONALS ON CAT STRATEGIES AND TIPS
There are some amazing tips given by experienced professionals who are in the cat coaching business for many years. Important strategies provided by professors and tutors can be incorporated in your study plan. This will give you an added advantage over the others and help broaden your knowledge as well.

LEVEL 14-PREPARING FOR GROUP DISCUSSION AND PERSONAL INTERVIEW
This is the last step of preparation. gd pi preparation is done after the cat exams once you start getting calls from colleges. Gd pi is as important as your cat score for the selection process of top colleges therefore it is very important to prepare for gd pi. This level gives you all the information you need on gd pi. Topics asked in gd pi, how to answer, what is gd, what is pi, what do they judge in gd pi, what can be asked, how to behave during gd pi rounds, dos and don’ts etc. Even 99.9% score in cat doesn't guarantee your admission in a college. You have to clear all the rounds in order to get selected. Therefore students should spend as much time as possible after the exam to prepare for your group discussion and personal interview.

LEVEL 6
level 6 is learning strategies- all students study in the same classes, same coursework and most students have an average level of intelligence but what sets apart a topper from the rest is the strategies he used to prepare for the exam and strategies to solve the paper.
This is an excellent collection of the best tips, tricks and shortcuts to reduce your solving time and increase your accuracy. it has some very important strategies like
§  How to eliminate options

v                 RC strategy
v                 SC
v                 LR
v                 Grammar
v                 CR
v                 CAT
v                 Test taking

LEVEL 7-
Once you have cleared your concepts, practiced all the workbooks, learnt all the strategies and shortcuts and solved 50 mock CATS, now is time to attempt the pro cats.
I have included mock cats of time and career launcher, which, according to me are the best and most helpful.
There are 44 mock cats of career launcher and 10 mock cats of time.
These mocks are the best of the best chosen from the mock cat series of cl and time. I personally went through all the questions and then categorized them according to level of difficulty and quality of questions.
After solving these you are absolutely ready to bell the cat

LEVEL 8-
Level 8 is solving previous year cat papers. It is important to attempt the previous year paper because cat is completely unpredictable. No one can predict the type of questions that will come in the exam. It is advised to practice the previous year papers to give you an understanding of the exam. The level of difficulty, the pattern and how and what kind of questions will come in the exam.
I have tried to add as many versions of the solved papers so in case you don’t understand how a particular question is solved, you can try the other solved paper because the method of solving a question differs from individual to individual. TheCAT papers are from 1990 to 2011.

LEVEL 9-
Level 9 is all in one list. While solving the mocks and practicing workbooks you might need to go through a particular concept or may be you can’t remember a particular formula. Going through the entire text book just to search for one formula is a huge waste of time. For that very reason I have compiled all the important list of concepts and formulas, shortcuts that you might need while solving the papers and workbooks.

LEVEL 10-
Level 10 is Studying with softwares. This is one of the added advantages of the guide. Most students are habituated to using paper and pen while studying. These softwares are designed to get the students habituated to using the computer for studying. These softwares are for reading comprehension, vocabulary, English pronunciations, word power made easy, verbal tests, cat tests, Kaplan and Princeton softwares etc. these will help you get the feel of the real cat exam. It is good to habituate yourself with the computer so that when you appear for the exam it doesn’t feel strange.

LEVEL 11-
Level 11 is revision. it is a very important level and most CAT coachings skip this step.
Since most students prepare for a cat for almost a year, it is impossible to remember each and every formula and each and every concept that you studied a year ago. Therefore this level helps refresh your memory and helps you revise the entire syllabus that you have studied so far. The revision level consists of 3 parts.
v                 Quant revision
v                 Verbal revision
v                 Grammar revision

I have tried my best to shorten the concept and list out all the important formulas in a few lines. This will help you to revise quickly without wasting any time. I have also added a few basic problem solving questions so you can quickly revise how to solve the problems as well.
Therefore you can save a bundle of time by just using this level to refresh your memory incase you have forgotten any of the concepts or formulas.

LEVEL 12-
Level 12 is solving mock papers of other entrance exams.
This level is also an important step. most students skip this step and don’t bother solving other entrance exam papers because they feel it’s a waste of time since cat is a different test but you should always remember that MBA entrance exams like snap, mat fms, iift, xat, cet etc have excellent questions of the same difficulty level as cat. You might get lucky and find a question that might come in your cat exam. The syllabus of all MBA entrance exams are the same. Even GRE and GMAT have the same syllabus so you are actually getting free additional practice material .another plus point is that it is of a high difficulty level therefore try not to skip this step. Trust me it is very helpful.

LEVEL 13-
v                 Level 13 is reading articles from experts about cat strategies.
In this level, I have added the most beneficial cat articles written by the industry experts. This provides a lot of information on additional strategies, shortcuts and tricks you can use to solve the paper.
v                 I have also included analysis of previous papers which basically is a step by step explanation of what came in the last paper, the level of difficulty ,number of questions etc. with the help of this you can predict the cat paper to some extent.
v                 Selection criteria of all IIMS, college ranking with websites and phone nos are also given.
I want the students to have all the information they need so they don’t have to waste time googling any more.
v                 Studying for cat should be your main focus. My students should not stress out about finding all the information that’s the reason I have provided every important information that a student could ever need.
v                 Many students come to me with doubts about choosing a specialization. So For those students who are still confused about their specialization I have included articles from industry experts on details of the specialization, packages, scope and all the details required to make a solid decision.
v                 Also included are interview with CAT toppers to learn about their experience and strategy. It is impossible for all of us to know at least one person who topped cat or studying in an IIM. Even if we find them on face book they might be too busy to reply. Therefore with this section you can get to know about all the cat toppers, what they studied, how, when and from where they studied. You can personally relate to them by reading their experiences.

LEVEL 14-
The last and final step is step 14-preparing for GD-PI.
This step comes after you have appeared for all the exams. Once you get a call from any of the colleges you have to appear for a group discussion and personal interview. Few colleges have also added a written assessment test.
This section will give you all the information you need about group discussion and personal interview.
Starting from the basics about what they exactly are, what are they judging, how do they judge, from where do they find the questions, how to answer the questions, what to so during GD PI, how to behave, how to sit, how to talk, The GD PI questions previously asked by colleges, some cat topper interviews about their gd pi experiences, what was asked, how they answered etc. and lastly gd pi topics that can be asked in future.

Getting a 100% score in cat doesn’t guarantee admission in IIM. You have to clear both rounds of GD and PI to confirm your seat in the top B-schools. Therefore it is as important as studying for cat and hence you should be prepared. You should have knowledge about what are they judging in these rounds, what can be asked and how and what you have to answer.

This covers the entire guide.
A-Z information and study material you need for your MBA entrance exams prep .from learning about CAT to preparing for GD PI. Everything that you require is covered in this guide. All concepts, workbooks, strategies are covered. All the information you need is given to you, neatly arranged in order. All you have to do is switch on your pc and open the guide.

I always say this to my students -. “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.”  Mother Teresa

Most students are working or are in their last semester and busy studying so you have to devote all the left over time and energy you can to prepare for CAT
It requires a lot of hard work and dedication.
As the saying goes- You may delay, but time will not.-Benjamin Franklin
I don’t want any students wasting time searching for fundas, mocks, strategies, Tips, shortcuts or even articles about cat that’s y I have tried to make a small contribution to make their lives easier. I have included every possible thing you could ever need for your preparation. NOW, you can devote all your energy and time in studying for cat and leave the rest to me…
